Welcome to Our Website!

Thanks for visiting our site. Our department is a growing residential community with about 11000 residents and roughly 3000 homes. We have very little commercial property but we do have a state “highway” running through the middle of our district.

We presently have 45+ members and respond to 600 calls on average per year. We provide our community with “Basic Life Support” or BLS medical coverage as well as full Fire and Rescue responses. We are now able to say that at least half of our membership is currently NYS certified “Emergency Medical Technicians” ensuring the people that call on us are getting medically trained responders 24/7.

We are now operating with two “Pierce Quantum” pumpers one is a 1999 and the other is a 2007, we have two Rescue trucks ones is a Medium duty 1995 Pierce/International Rescue with all our hydraulic “Jaws-of-Life” tools on it and a 1997 E-One/GMC light rescue to responds to our “house calls”, lastly we have a 1990 Yankee Airboat to is used to protect our portion of the Mohawk river. In addition to these Fire/Rescue vehicles we also run Three Chief’s SUV’s that have full BLS equipment including “Automatic External Defibrillators” or AEDs, as well as a 2000 Chevy Pick-up/Utility truck and a 1996 Chevy Suburban which does double duty as our back-up EMS truck and also pulls our boat. We have just finished with our annual fund drive, thanks to all our members who helped make it possible and to those who supported our fund drive.

Our open house was on October 20th and thanks to all those who attended made it our largest crowd to date. Coming up in November we will be participating in the annual Schenectady County Christmas/Holiday parade in down town Schenectady, so we hope to see you there supporting us. Lastly I would like to reach out to the residents of Niskayuna to help support our department and volunteer today.

Thanks Dave Wood, 1st Assistant Chief
